This Shipping and Delivery Policy outlines the terms, operational guidelines, site requirements, and dispatch conditions for shipping containers and heavy equipment transported by AG Container Transport LLC.
1. Delivery Methods & Equipment
- Tilt-Bed / Tilt-Tray Delivery: Our standard delivery method for 20ft and 40ft containers. The truck tilts the trailer bed upward and slowly drives forward, sliding the back end of the container onto the ground.
- Flatbed / Step-Deck Delivery: Used when the customer has an on-site crane, forklift, or heavy rigging equipment available to lift and unload the container directly off the flatbed trailer.
- Side-Loader / Crane Delivery: Available upon request for specialized or tight-space placements where tilt-bed maneuverability is restricted.
2. Site Clearance and Space Requirements
To ensure safe unloading, the customer is responsible for verifying that the drop site and access route meet the following minimum spatial requirements:
| Requirement | 20ft Container | 40ft Container |
| Straight-Line Clearance | 60 – 80 feet | 100 – 120+ feet |
| Horizontal / Width Clearance | 10 – 12 feet minimum | 10 – 12 feet minimum |
| Vertical / Overhead Clearance | 14 – 16 feet minimum | 16 – 20+ feet minimum |
3. Customer Site Preparation Responsibilities
- Ground Surface: The drop location must be firm, dry, and level (e.g., compacted gravel, asphalt, concrete slab, or railroad tie sleepers). Bare soil, sand, or soft mud can sink under truck and container weight, causing delivery failures or structural door misalignment.
- Overhead Obstructions: The entire route must be clear of low-hanging tree branches, power lines, building eaves, and gate archways.
- Door Orientation: The customer must specify whether the container doors should face the front (cab) or rear (back) of the truck prior to dispatch, as trucks are loaded directionally at the depot.
4. Fulfillment Timelines & Delivery Scheduling
- Standard Lead Time: Deliveries are generally fulfilled within 3 to 10 business days following invoice settlement and site confirmation.
- Scheduling Window: Delivery dates and estimated arrival timeframes will be coordinated between our logistics dispatch team and the recipient.
- Weather & Road Delays: Delivery schedules are subject to adjustment due to severe weather conditions (e.g., heavy rain, mud, ice), road closures, or highway transport permits beyond our control.
5. Unsuccessful Deliveries & Dry-Run Charges
- Site Unreadiness: If our driver arrives at the site and determines that entry or unloading is unsafe due to mud, insufficient clearance, or uncoordinated obstructions, the delivery will be aborted.
- Dry-Run Penalty: In the event of an unsuccessful delivery caused by site non-compliance or customer absence, the customer will be charged a non-refundable dry-run fee and billed for secondary haulage attempts.
